Placement Considerations - Early Childhood

This article assists users when completing the form.

Form information

  1. This form is used only for students in an Early Childhood setting.  It becomes available when you answer Yes to the question Does the student require an ECSE placement form? on the Services Summary form.

  2. Choose Yes or No to indicate if all of the child’s special education and related services will be provided with non-disabled peers in a regular education setting.

  3. If the answer in step 2 is No, the next section is required.

    1. Enter the number of Special Education minutes the student will receive. This information can be found on the Federal 4 Summary screen.

    2. In the next field describe why provision of services in the regular education setting is not appropriate. If additional space is needed, enter See Additional Information and put the reason on the Additional Information page.

  4. Participation in Regular Physical Education is completed with the statement No physical education activities are required because the student is preschool age.

  5. Complete the Annual Consideration of Placement section.

    1. Mark Considered for Early Childhood setting. This option must be marked for all Early Childhood students.

    2. Mark as Considered ALL placements considered by the IEP team, including the option marked as Selected.

    3. Mark as Selected, the placement chosen by the IEP team.

  6. Save.

There are three Early Childhood Placement Considerations forms available in each IEP event.  The first is required.  The second and third are optional and used if the placement changes during the IEP.
