Editing your Tax Withholding (W-4's) in Employee Self-Service
This article will help you change your W-4 information for State and Federal tax withholding.
Federal Tax Withholding
Federal tax withholding rules have changed for the 2020 fiscal year. If you do not make any changes to your W-4, then you will continue with the exemptions and status you had for 2019. If you need to make a change, you will complete the new form for 2020 and moving forward. There are changes to how exemptions are now handled. If you have any questions, please go to the IRS website or contact your tax advisor.
You will need to login to Lawson. If you are having trouble go to the, Logging Into Lawson, article and then return to this page.
Make sure you click on the Lawson icon to ensure you are in the correct application.
Click the Menu button and go to Bookmarks > Employee Self-Service > Pay > Tax Withholding.
Click on the Federal Income Tax button to open the form.
Verify your information and select the filing status which identifies you.
If any personal information is incorrect on the form, please contact the Human Resources department for assistance.
Read step 2. If it applies to you, check the box.
Enter in the amount of qualifying children and dependent in step 3.
If you need help with this, click the W-4 Instructions link at the bottom of the screen. Follow the instructions from the IRS. If you are still having an issue contact your tax adviser for assistance.
Click the Continue button.
In the pop-up message, please read though and if you accept, click the Update button to make the changes.
You will now be taken back to the Tax Withholding home page. You will notice that the number of Exemptions has not changed. However, the amount in the Dependents column has updated. This is accurate. If there is information in the dependents column it overrides the Exemptions column from 2019.
If you are wanting to file exempt, then you must submit a paper W-4 to the Payroll department. Contact the Payroll department for assistance.
