MAP-A Tech Support Process

This article, Co-authored by Ashley Kirkpatrick, Assessments Facilitator, and Shaun McCann, Tech Service Operations Manager, was created to help teachers with the support procedures for getting DLM (Dynamic Learning Maps) MAP-A testing platform KITE installed on devices to administer testing.

Preparing for Testing on Student Chromebooks

  • In the beginning of September, the KITE app should update automatically via SSD's Google Admin Tools managed by Tech Services for any students testing on Chromebooks.

  • The assessment facilitator will communicate when your DLM rosters are completed.  Once your rosters are set, and you have your student’s DLM testing tickets with their usernames and passwords, login as students to ensure the KITE app is working properly.

  • Try to test a student's login information at least 1 week prior to starting testing in case of technical issues.

  • If you are experiencing issues with KITE on the Chromebooks, please email technologyservices@ssdmo.org to create a Service Ticket.  Your Service Ticket will be assigned to the technician supporting your location, and they will reach out to you as soon as they can.

Testing students on desktops, iPads, laptops (other than student chromebooks)

  • If teachers want to test students on iPads, desktops, or other laptop computers, please create a Service Ticket for your Desktop Support Tech by emailing technologyservices@ssdmo.org.

  • Teachers will communicate what classrooms are requesting the KITE installation via their ticket.

  • Teachers need to communicate with their Desktop Support Tech:

  • Clearly identify what devices you would like the KITE software installed on.

  • Manual installation on each Windows or Mac device will be required and additional setup on iPads.

  • The tech will need time in your classroom to do this, and should work with you to choose a time which is the least disruptive to your classes as possible

  • Please help the Tech Services team by only requesting installation on the devices you’ll use for testing with KITE

  • Please avoid tagging full classrooms or carts if only 1 or 2 will be utilized as testing devices.
