This article describes the steps to setup the phone method of authentication used for call and text.

Step-by-step

The Phone method allows you the option to answer an automated call or input a code from a SMS message. You may use your SSD phone number or a personal number. If you have a voicemail extension, choose the Office Phone as a call method. *SMS mobile messaging rates may apply.

  1. Open up a browser and go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.

  2. Login using your SSD username and password.

  3. Click the Add sign-in method button.

  4. Select the Phone method from the list. Click Add.

  5. Enter your 10-digit number (no special characters. e.g., 3145172917) and select the option you prefer. Click the Next button.

    1. You may select Text me a code or Call me.

  6. Locate the code sent to your device and enter it into the box, then click the Verify button.

  7. If you entered the correct number, you will be prompted with a success screen. Click Done.

  8. Now you may use this MFA option when logging into your SSD account.
