Printer Logic-Set up a New Printer or Re-configure after relocating printer (SSD Buildings)

Physically Connect printer at location:

  1. Ensure the site you are going to install the printer at has power available nearby and a network drop.

  2. Connect the power cord and network cable and power the printer on.

  3. Check in the printer’s settings that the IPV4 Configuration is set to DHCP to let the server automatically assign an IP address to the printer.

  4. Verify that the printer has been assigned a 10.x.x.x IP address. If not, troubleshoot network issues.

Reserve IP address:

  1. Record the printer’s current IP address, MAC (Hardware address, make sure to get the wired address and not any WiFi addresses), and printer Serial Number.

  2. Escalate a ticket to Infrastructure with the IP, MAC, and Serial Number requesting an IP Address reservation. Typically they reserve something in the 10.x.x.200-255 range (highest numbers available in the IP’s last octet).

  3. Return to printer to verify permanent IP (Look in IPV4 Settings or Print Configuration page)

Add to Printer Logic Admin:

  1. Log into Printer Logic Admin: https://ssdmo.printercloud.com/admin/

  2. Locate the folder for the building you need to add the printer to and expand to view any subfolders. Right-click on the building or sub-folder you want to create the new Printer object in and Click New, Slide over and Click TCP/IP Printer

  3. In the Add TCP/IP Printer dialog:

    1. Give the Printer a friendly name that would be meaningful to customers (Department or Room number. Avoid naming after a certain person, as staff often change positions). i.e. TechCopyRoomToshibaBW

    2. Enter the IP Address in IP Address or Hostname Field

    3. Describe where the printer is located in the Location Field (OK here to use a person’s name if that’s the best description, but include their job title as well and remember to update if the person changes position).

    4. In the Comment Field, put the Serial Number and Model Name (Abbreviate HP Laserjet to HP LJ).

    5. Look in the dropdown menus to see if the driver already exists from a previous installation of the same model printer and choose the available driver or proceed to Obtain Printer Driver if no driver has already been uploaded for that printer model.

    6. Choose a Driver for both Mac and Windows OS

    7. If you’ve selected drivers, Click Add to finish adding the printer
