This article describes the steps to setup set up the phone method of authentication used for call and text. This step-by-step is not for setting up an office phone. Please refer to this document for setting up your office phone.

The Phone method allows you to choose if you can prove who you are by answering a call on your phone or by texting a code to your phonethe option to answer an automated call or input a code from a SMS message. You may use your SSD phone number or a personal number. The image below uses a personal cell phone number and the Text me a code optionIf you have a voicemail extension, choose the Office Phone as a call method. *SMS mobile messaging rates may apply. |
Open up a browser and go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
Login using your SSD username and password.
Click the Add sign-in method button.

Select the Phone method from the list. Click Add.

Enter your 10-digit number (no special characters. e.g., 3145172917) and select the option you prefer. Click the Next button.
You may select Text me a code or Call me.

Locate the code sent to your device and enter it into the box, then click the Verify button.

If you entered the correct number, you will be prompted with a success screen. Click Done.
