FAQ and common requests

Q: Will there be any information on how to use the new phones?
A: SSD is providing multiple sources of knowledge and training to support you with this migration.

  • There will be 9 total remote sessions for all staff. If you are not able to attend any of these sessions, each session will be recorded for viewing after.

  • There will be 5 total remote sessions targeted to SSD Administrators, Secretary level, and Technology Services staff only. If you are not able to attend any of these sessions, each session will be recorded for viewing after.

  • There currently are a set of knowledge base articles in the Technology Services Knowledge Base. The main RingCentral page has access to resources (logging into the web portal, using the device, setting up the apps), the project schedule, the recorded remote sessions and these FAQs.

Q: I heard that faxing with RingCentral is very different. How do I learn how to fax?
A: RingCentral now offers a complete digital faxing solution for all SSD staff with full extensions (this does not include VM only users). RingCentral gives you access to all you want to know about faxing using RingCentral. Go there now and learn how you can send a document(s) to a fax line using your SSD email.

Q: Why is my fax taking so long to get to the recipient?
A: RingCentral digital faxing service can sometimes take up to 20 minutes to transmit a fax depending on the type of attachment you are faxing out. Please notify the recipients of your fax that it may take some time to come through. As long as you are sending the fax using your SSD email address and you have a full extension, you will receive a fax transmission result whether it was sent successfully or not.

Q: My headset doesn't work as it did before. Are there any particular headsets that will work well with RingCentral?

A: RingCentral has a recommended list of supported headsets for their phone solution. Technology Services has identified for you some great headset models for you to choose from depending on your needs. Take a look at the different models, Phone Headset Device Equipment Standards, and follow these steps on the article for submitting a request for purchase.

Q: Can I use Ring Central to send a mass text to parents in my classroom?

A: RingCentral can be used to send individual texts to parents if that is their requested primary form of communications, however, for mass notifications for announcements or broad communications, SSD requires staff to utilize School Messenger. Please contact contact the Communications Department for their process of using School Messenger.
