Global Protect VPN Configuration for Chrome OS
Techs can use this page to configure Global Protect VPN for customers to use off-site.
Steps for Technician to install GP on Chromebook:
Connect to your home WiFi or hotspot.
Log in to the Chromebook using your SSD email address and password.
Launch Google Chrome.
Click on the Extensions (puzzle piece icon) in the top right of your Chrome window.
Click on Manage Extensions.
Click on the 3 lines symbol to open the Extensions menu.
Click the Open Chrome Web Store link at the bottom of the left pane.
Type Global Protect in the Search the store box in the left pane and Press Enter to search.
Scroll down the right pane and find the Global Protect installation (Globe symbol, white and blue shield, Palo Alto yellow banner).
Click the blue Add to Chrome button in the right pane.
Click the Add App button to confirm and start the install.
Click the blue Launch App button.
In the Enter the Portal Address box to add a VPN connection configuration, Type agw.ssdmo.org, then Click the blue Add Connection button in the bottom right.
Click the X in the top right of the GP window to Close Global Protect.
Steps for Customer to launch Global Protect on Chromebook:
Connect to your home WiFi or hotspot.
Log in to the Chromebook using your SSD email address and password.
Click on the Wireless Signal Strength Symbol.
Click the Settings (gear icon).
By default this will take you to the Network tab.
Click the right arrow at the right end of the VPN heading that is underneath the WiFi heading.
Under the Global Protect heading, Click on the right arrow at the right end of the AGW entry.
Click the blue Connect button in the top right.
At the Global Protect Login Enter login credentials window, sign in with your SSD username (no @ssdmo.org at the end) and your SSD password and Click Connect.
You will be prompted for Multi-Factor Authentication:
Answer the call and press # to confirm like normal
Enter the code that is texted to your trusted device if you receive a text for MFA
If you use the Microsoft Authenticator app, confirm the prompt in the app on your device.
There is no prompt on the Chromebook when Authenticator is your default MFA.
Have your phone ready because the window to approve the MFA request from GP on Chromebook is very short.
