Problem
User is having an issue with updating Microsoft Office files in a SharePoint library.
Solution
When Microsoft Office Applications (full client not web client) edit Office files hosted in SharePoint Document Libraries, Office makes a local copy of the file for editing offline. If it is edited offline and/or another users edits the copy hosted on SharePoint in between syncing with the local copy, the local copy will not be able to sync until the sync issue is resolved.
Please follow the steps below to resolve any issue with Microsoft Office Applications local file syncing. The below example uses Microsoft Excel 2013.
Open the file that has the sync issue.
Click on the File tab.
Image ModifiedSelect Info.
Image ModifiedThe sync error will appear in red, or pink, at the top of the info page with an option to resolve. Click the resolve icon and select replace local copy with server version.
This will overwrite any edits made while off-line and refresh the local copy with the contents of the SharePoint document library file.
